Safety Alert – Cleaning and COVID-19

In this COVID-19 time period we need to learn to clean for ourselves, our family and our loves ones.

  1. Surfaces. The difference between cleaning and disinfecting is cleaning is wiping direct and crumbs off of a kitchen counter, disinfecting is killing germs with a disinfectant of at least 70% alcohol. In these times you need both.
  2. Disinfectant. According to the CDC, mix 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water and wash surfaces with the mixture. After, rinse surface with clean water.
  3. Clothes. When washing bed sheets, bath towels, blankets, curtains: dry cloths at highest setting, avoid shaking laundry which can increase spread of germs.  Laundry baskets must be cleaned.
  4. Disinfecting Checklist. Doorknobs, air vents, lights switches, remote controls, fan and large chains, thermostat, keys, railings, garbage and recycling bins.
